Subject
5-7
This course is for motivated students in grades 5-7 who are ready to move beyond arithmetic and step into algebraic thinking. Difficulty is slightly above a standard pre-algebra class, and every idea is developed thinking-first so it feels necessary rather than handed down.
Built on the Common Core State Standards for Grades 7 and 8. The course covers rational numbers, ratios and proportional relationships, percents, expressions, equations and inequalities, the essential numeric geometry (area, volume, the Pythagorean theorem), and an introduction to statistics and probability, the foundation students need to step into Algebra 1. Linear functions, systems, and transformational geometry are developed in our Algebra 1 and Geometry courses.
Placement note: because pre-algebra is a grade-level band rather than a single Common Core course, the outcome is framed as readiness and placement, not credit. Schools and districts have the final say; we do not guarantee placement.
