Math Overview

AlphaStar Online Math Courses are great opportunities for interested and talented students to improve their math skills. Students are guided and trained by an expert faculty via utilizing national and international competitions in a fun and challenging environment.

The Math Curriculum at each level has four subject course offerings: Algebra, Counting, Geometry, and Number Theory. For example, MC25 level (AMC 8/MathCounts Advanced) has four subject courses: MC25A (Algebra), MC25G (Geometry), MC25C (Counting), and MC25N (Number Theory). Separate registration is required for each subject course.

Each course has 12 chapters. A chapter will be covered in a 90-minute live session. For each chapter, there will be Lecture Notes, Example Problems, Exercise (HW) Problems, Quiz. There is also a discussion forum where students can ask questions to the Faculty and peers. The course material is the same as the ones used in Fall/Spring/Summer courses for relevant subjects.

During the Live Classes, the Instructor will teach the Lecture Notes, solve Example Problems, and review some of the Exercise (HW) Problems. The lectures are recorded. Live class students can access the recorded lecture video in their course accounts within a few days after each live class session. Self-study class students will have access to recorded sessions from a past or current live class.

For each Chapter, students are encouraged to work an additional 1 hour to review the material and work on the Exercise (HW) and Quiz problems, preferably on a regular basis when the material is taught fresh. However, there is no deadline for HW and Quizzes, hence the students can take and submit them whenever they want during the 1 year time after the course enrollment. There will be a Final Exam that students can take online anytime after going through all the course material.

Dates & Registration

The assigned instructors are subject to change.

All class times are Pacific Time (PT).

Testimonials

Fatih was a great teacher; materials were organized; everything was extremely clear.

USACO Programming Student

The camp academics were exceptional. I learned a lot from this compared to many of the other camps I went to.

F=ma Summer Camp student

A* REALLY knows how to prepare students for the AMC 8.

AMC 8 / MathCounts Basic Student

Yibo is a very good instructor and always tries his very best to interact with his students even during break! He is one of the best instructors I have had while taking an alpha star course and I've had 9 different instructors during my time here! The course is a little hard so far and I struggled a bit during dijkstras but after a bit of practice I was able to learn it properly. If the course spent more time on dijkstras it would have helped a lot.

The camp was very informative and I got a lot of practice.
