The American Invitational Math Exam (AIME) is an invitational exam for top-scoring students from AMC 10 and AMC 12. It is a 15 question, 3-hour examination, each answer is an integer number between 0 to 999. Top scoring participants on the AIME are invited to take the USA Math Olympiads (USAMO) or USA Junior Math Olympiads (USAJMO). Starting in 2022, it is offered in February. AIME is the second exam in a series of competitions that eventually lead all the way to the International Mathematical Olympiad (see Invitational Competitions).

You can prepare by solving problems from past competitions or similar problems. Taking timed practice tests, going over the solutions, and analyzing your mistakes is also a great way to improve your exam performance. When analyzing your mistakes, you should create strategies to avoid them in the future. You can read this article to learn how making mistakes while practicing can actually help you avoid them in official contests.
AlphaStar offerings contain problems, tests, and exam strategies for AIME, developed by AlphaStar Academy faculty and development team. To see all of our offerings, see the AIME Preparation section above.
