F=ma Advanced/AP Physics 1

The F = ma Advanced/AP Physics 1 course introduces the more matured student to physics. All mechanics topics required for the F=ma Exam will be taught from an experienced beginner level. Math topics needed beyond Algebra 2 will be taught, including basic trigonometry. The focus will still be on practice and problem solving.

Who should Take This Course

Course Prerequisites:
  • AMC 10/12 Year-round Basic*
  • or AMC 10/12 Summer Camp*
  • or F=ma Basic*
  • or Algebra 2 equivalent
  • or 1st-year high school physics course
  • or AP Physics 1 (or AP Physics C Mechanics)
(* Indicates an Alphastar Academy course)

A scientific calculator is required and preferred over a graphing calculator.

F=ma Advanced will not go over electric charges or DC circuits. It is recommended that students simultaneously work from The Princeton Review: Cracking the AP Physics 1 Exam 2019, Premium Edition.

Exam Weeks

Practice Exams will be given/solved.

Homework

There are weekly homework sets.

Resources

Lecture notes and problem solutions will be available on the learning management system (LMS).

Curriculum

F=ma Advanced is a year-long course with the first half in the fall and the second half in the spring. F=ma Advanced is also offered as a 3-week long Summer Camp with 15 instructional days.
